Texture Perms
Today, conventional permanent waves are generally relegated to the mature
client, who wants support for her weekly-maintained hairstyle.
Contemporary clients rarely turn to perms . . . with the exception of "texture"
waves, that add a disheveled, naturalness to an easy care look. When done,
these "newer" perms are accomplished on large, varying sized rods, to create
unevenness in the result. Additionally, with the current significance of
hair color, the client's hair must start in excellent condition, since "perming"
over hair color should be carefully limited.
Generally, permanents are waiting to regain the favor of the fashion
movement. Perhaps technological advances, or the return of texture to the
fashion forefront will hasten the perms revival . . . but there is no doubt,
that eventually, clients will look towards them again.
